I was born in Chicago in 1945. I first started refinishing kitchen cabinets when I was in High School helping my father in his refinishing business. I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and served in the Peace Corps in India. After working with my father in his refinishing business, I worked as a refinisher with other companies until I started Phelps Refinishing about 20 years ago.
    My primary purpose as a professional and a businessman besides providing a living for my family is to provide a service to my customers, in an honest, friendly, and competent manner. I pride myself in being on time with the highest quality of workmanship possible. I have been called an artist at times and although there is touches of artistry involved in my work a craftsman would be a better label. Although I strive for perfection on every job I do, of course I never reach it, it is impossible to reach, but hopefully any imperfections are only seen in my eyes and not yours.....I retired from refinishing in 2006 and now I strive for perfection in being a distributor for Fuji spray systems.
